Vipassana in Europe

Everyone strives for happiness, which is why people do everything they can to prevent or ease their suffering. Most of our efforts to attain happiness are directed toward physical well-being, which we try to secure through material things: a new apartment, a new blanket, a bag, delicious food, beautiful jewelry, and so on. This endless concern for our own comfort pulls us away from the true source of happiness.

The Buddha taught that the only way to be free from suffering is contemplation—observing: observing your body, your emotions, your mind, your thoughts.

In today’s world, we call this state of observation “meditation.” Meditation is a way of turning inward through concentration and focused attention. It is a tool for inner inquiry—when you find answers to questions that truly matter to you, when you gain inner confidence and a sense of fullness, because you begin to know yourself more deeply and enter the most intimate spaces of your consciousness. These reveal the real causes, purposes, and experiences for which you came into this world at this time.

Meditation is also a way to master and train the mind: teaching it to perceive reality as it is, without distortion, and to learn acceptance.

To immerse yourself as quickly and deeply as possible in your inner world, you need to practice Vipassana. Vipassana in Europe is a unique opportunity for total immersion in practice amid breathtaking nature, far from the noise of the city. Vipassana is a silent retreat—when you completely disconnect from the outside world, from people and social media, and, through special techniques and meditation practices, go inward.

Vipassana in Europe creates a special atmosphere for inner transformation. The clean air of French forests or the Portuguese coastline, the quiet of nature, and the energy of ancient lands amplify the effect of the practice many times over. Vipassana in Europe is not just a meditative retreat—it is a journey back to yourself in one of the most beautiful and energetically powerful places on the planet.

Vipassana is a practice through which you can remember past lives, understand your purpose in this life, unlock your potential for self-realization, and find an inner source of happiness that fills you and gives you strength. And when this ancient practice takes place on European soil, it gains a special depth and transformative power.

Vipassana near Barcelona

Silence is the language of wisdom. In silence, a deep understanding appears: what remains unspoken can sometimes be more powerful than what is said.

We are hosting a silent retreat—Vipassana—in the Penedès region, near Barcelona, one of the most energetically rich places in Catalonia. For centuries, this land has drawn monks, hermits, and spiritual seekers: ancient monasteries, mountain refuges, and sacred sites are found here. The closeness of mountains, forests, and the sea, the mild Mediterranean climate, and the unique atmosphere of Catalan earth create ideal conditions for deep meditative practice.

Penedès is a region of absolute quiet and natural beauty, just an hour from Barcelona. There is no tourist bustle here—only mountain landscapes, vineyards, forests, and clean air. This is exactly the setting Vipassana needs: a practice that requires complete solitude from the outside world and a turning inward.

The nature of this region helps you slow down, disconnect your mind from the city’s noise, and hear your inner voice.

Vipassana Organizers

Let’s build the path to the best version of yourself together. We adapt the sessions and practices to each participant’s level of experience, so you can practice in comfort.

Roman Teos

Each of us is given a chance to understand the Universe and the essence of existence through working with the body and consciousness. I am constantly learning this from different teachers around the world, and by passing the flow of their knowledge, experience, and energies through myself, I share my own experience to make my contribution to the development of this Universe.

Olya Amitara

Yoga is the path of my personal growth. Along the way, I carry different “bags” (aromatherapy, sound therapy, nutrition), gradually filling my journey with deeper meaning. I’m incredibly interested in continuing forward with all my experience and skills, meeting other bright souls on this path—those who are going where I’m going too.

What to Expect at the Silent Retreat

Yoga

Hatha yoga at our silent retreat is suitable for practitioners of different levels. We always adapt our classes to the level and needs of each group. Hatha yoga prepares the body for long sitting in meditative postures—so important in Vipassana. Please bring comfortable clothing that doesn’t restrict movement and isn’t too warm.

meditation

Meditation

Meditation is a tool for working with the mind that helps take awareness to a new level. Through concentration, calmness, and inner balance, we become less vulnerable to stress. We will meditate every day for several hours using one of the meditation techniques mentioned by Buddha Shakyamuni and recommended for Vipassana.

mauna

Mauna

Mauna is a vow of silence. Speech carries energy, and by preserving this energy, we accumulate it and redirect it toward self-knowledge and inner immersion. During our Vipassana, we will keep silence to focus more deeply on the inner dialogue—and gradually slow that down as well.

Aromatherapy

The power of natural essential oils will accompany us throughout the retreat, creating a supportive atmosphere for practice. Aromas help you enter deeper meditative states and enhance concentration. During yoga, essential oils support our inner energy.

Pranayama

Pranayama is a set of breathing techniques that help strengthen the connection between the subtle and the gross—the physical body and inner energy. When a person becomes aware of how they breathe, they develop the ability to “be in the moment.” We will give you clear tools for working with your breath, and we will refine them throughout the Vipassana.

Sound Therapy

The healing vibrations of Tibetan singing bowls will help us recover after intensive practice days. The depth of their sound penetrates beyond the physical body into our inner world, harmonizing energy centers. This ancient practice enhances the effects of meditation and supports deep relaxation.

Yin Yoga

Yin yoga is a calming practice with long-held poses (3–5 minutes) that leads to deep work with ligaments and muscles, weaving body and mind into a single experience. We will practice yin yoga in the second half of the day to release mental tension and ease physical tightness after long meditations.

reading

Reading Spiritual Literature

Each day, we will dedicate time to reading sacred texts and the works of enlightened teachers. Through wisdom accumulated over centuries, we will seek inspiration for our inner journey. Spiritual literature helps you reflect on your personal practice experience and find answers to questions that arise.

Walking Meditation

Walking meditation is a form of dynamic meditation. This method helps develop and strengthen inner concentration. Concentration is the foundation of meditation, so we will train the ability to stay focused while walking without being distracted by external stimuli.

Accommodation During Vipassana

The historic estate is located on a mountain in the Penedès region, where secluded terraces offer breathtaking views of Catalonia’s mountain landscapes and the surrounding forests. Nature creates a soothing atmosphere, bringing a special sense of calm and connection to the earth.

All rooms are fully equipped with amenities and feature natural light and views of nature. Each space is ideal for morning meditation or an evening tea with a mountain view. The interior is designed in a traditional Catalan style: 300-year-old stone walls, wooden beams, arches, and large windows create the ambiance of a historic countryside manor.

On the center’s grounds there is a swimming pool with a private area for additional relaxation after practices. A garden with mature trees and the 0.8-hectare property invite you to walk in nature, enjoy the silence, and contemplate sunrises and sunsets over the mountains of Penedès.

What Past Participants Say

See what participants say about Vipassana. Their sincere feedback will help you understand how our experience and knowledge change people’s lives—bringing inspiration and support on the path to health and harmony.

Anna

Vipassana has become my path to harmony between body and mind. This practice fills me with faith and gives me the strength to move forward in life. Group meditations have opened up a whole new dimension—one that is impossible to experience through solitary practice. I was particularly struck by walking meditation. I could never have imagined that simple steps could lead to such profound insights! My thoughts unfolded so vividly and coherently that I wanted to sketch out diagrams of all my insights right then and there. The only challenge was the early schedule. I’ll admit, getting up so early wasn’t easy. But the result was worth it! A huge thank you to Roman and Olesya for this transformative experience.

Olga

For me, Vipassana is a connection to the power of my lineage. This is my second time participating in this practice. My first experience wasn’t easy: I watched from the sidelines for a long time, I was afraid, and I didn’t fully understand what it was all about. But my intuition told me—I definitely needed this. And I wasn’t wrong. Surprisingly, meditating to the sound of “Aum” came easily and naturally to me. I stopped feeling my legs; my body seemed to dissolve—for me, it was a real revelation! In other practices, I usually find it hard to sit still for long, but here everything happened effortlessly. I am deeply grateful for this experience!

Tatyana, Svetlana, and Elena

When we first arrived at the retreat, we had only a vague idea of what lay ahead. We knew there would be meditation and yoga—that was enough to convince us to come. But what Vipassana actually entailed, and especially the fact that we would be observing silence, came as a complete surprise to us. Now we understand—it was a gift from fate. During these days of silence, we learned to truly listen to ourselves. When external noise fades away, you begin to clearly perceive every thought, every intention. Every word took on a special value—like a precious gem that must be used mindfully. Thank you for this experience!

Natalia + Ilya

To be honest, when we were on our way here, we thought it would just be yoga and that we’d be silent. But Vipassana turned out to be much deeper—it’s a true journey of self-discovery and a continuation of our inner path. It’s amazing, but all the knowledge we’d gained separately before came together here into a single whole. Everything came back to us and fell into place—it was simply wonderful! It was especially valuable that all the participants were on the same page, on the same wavelength. There was an incredible sense of community and understanding. Thank you so much for this experience!

Julia

For me, Vipassana is, above all, freedom. The freedom to explore my limits, discover my true potential, and boldly step outside my comfort zone! My favorite part of Vipassana is walking meditation. When you simply walk and meditate at the same time, something magical happens: you literally feel liberated, your thoughts become crystal clear, and your soul opens up like a flower. The moments after the sound practices with Olya were especially impressive—such vivid and profound images would come to me! And Roma’s talks about the soul… they’re simply priceless. I’m infinitely grateful for this transformative experience!

Irene

This is my second Vipassana retreat, and once again, everything went very smoothly and harmoniously! For those who don’t know: Vipassana is a comprehensive practice for developing and deeply understanding energy. Every day, you literally feel your inner energy rising higher and higher. And after such a practice, it’s simply impossible not to want to create and live life to the fullest! This year, the program felt especially easy to me—my body didn’t ache at all, and doing yoga was just a blast! But dealing with my thoughts was harder—as always, they tried to drag me into their endless labyrinths. But that’s part of the journey, too. A huge thank you for this experience!

Lena

This is my second Vipassana retreat, and what a difference from my first experience! I remember how, during my first Vipassana, I wanted to run away—it was hard, both physically and mentally. But that incredible feeling at the end, when you go through all your “wants” and suddenly realize: “I can do so much more than I thought!”—that moment stuck with me forever. It’s exactly for that feeling that I came back here again. And you know what? This Vipassana retreat was a real kick in the butt for me—but in the best possible way! My energy, my vitality, and my self-confidence have returned. This time, I simply reveled in every single day here. Escaping the daily grind and coming here is the best vacation I can imagine. Not spa treatments, not beaches—but this very work on myself. Thank you for this priceless experience!

Natalia

Vipassana is a personal journey; everyone’s experience is different. For some, it’s hard to stick to the dietary restrictions; for others, it’s difficult to remain silent; and still others struggle to adjust to the early mornings and the practices. For me, silence turned out to be the easiest part. I simply enjoyed the silence with all my heart—I felt so good in that state of peace and inner harmony. I especially loved the aromatherapy! I learned so much about using essential oils and experienced their effects firsthand. It was a real revelation.

Olya

Vipassana is a true union with my soul. I am immensely grateful to life for the way things have unfolded and for bringing me here. It is impossible to put into words the depth one feels during the practice. It inspires, fills me with incredible energy, and awakens a thirst for knowledge. After this experience, I want to learn more, explore this amazing depth, and, most importantly, explore myself. This journey has only just begun, and I am ready to go further. Thank you for the opportunity to connect with my true self!

Victoria

Vipassana became a true path back to myself. I had never felt such deep gratitude before. What surprised me most were the yoga sessions—I had never done yoga before and was afraid it would be difficult, but it turned out to be the opposite! Yoga brought me incredible joy and a sense of ease. The most difficult challenge was the meditation. Taming my mind, teaching it to concentrate, and maintaining focus—that turned out to be a real challenge. But it was precisely in this difficulty that the practice’s greatest value lay. I recommend it to anyone looking for a path to themselves!

Second payment: €500 three months before the retreat begins

Before making the deposit, we recommend that you read the Disclaimer and the Offer Agreement to understand the extent of your responsibility during the trip and practices with us, as well as the Club’s responsibility.

I don’t have any special experience—will I be able to handle Vipassana?

You don’t need any special preparation to take part in a silent retreat. What matters most is having a strong intention to complete Vipassana all the way through.

Even if your legs get numb from long meditation sessions, you’ll simply change your sitting position more often—while still doing your best to maintain concentration during the practice.

That is more than enough for your Vipassana to take place and bring you profound benefit, inner peace, and mental clarity.

What happens if I pay the deposit but later can’t attend?

The deposit confirms your reservation—both for your place on the retreat and for your accommodation at the estate we rent for our silent retreat.

The deposit is non-refundable, because once your spot is reserved, we transfer payment to the rented estate, secure your place on the retreat, and turn away other applicants. However, we can refund your deposit if we are able to find another participant to take your place.

If borders are closed or flights are canceled, the deposit will be refunded minus any bank transfer fees, if applicable.

Before making a deposit, we recommend reviewing the Disclaimer and the Public Offer Agreement, so you clearly understand your level of responsibility during the trip and practices with us, as well as the Club’s responsibility.

Can I use my phone during Vipassana?

To fully withdraw from external stimuli and go inward, it’s important to eliminate all outside communication and contact. For this reason, we will recommend that you switch off your mobile phone for the duration of Vipassana.

For emergencies, we will provide each participant with contact details that their family and friends can use to reach you only if absolutely necessary. We will also ask each participant to share an emergency contact from their side, so that if something urgent happens, we can reach someone close to you.
