Best Coconut Laddu Recipe

In honor of Ganesh Chaturthi on August 22, 2020, we decided to share a recipe for delicious and filling sweets.

Ganesha Chaturthi is the fourth lunar day of the waxing moon in the second half of August 2020. This is a big holiday in Hinduism, during which a huge number of delicious Indian dishes are prepared. Most people keep the recipes for the tastiest ladoos a closely guarded secret. Ladoos are incredibly tasty handmade sweets, and also very healthy, because their recipes are compiled according to the rules of Ayurvedic nutrition.

Lada is hundreds of times healthier and more filling than any store-bought sweet!

Coconut laddoos are traditional Indian sweet balls made from coconut, cardamom powder,
sweetener and milk (optional). We prepare them for most festivals and events because… they are very tasty and easy to prepare. This is a wonderful gift for your husband to share with friends.

These delicious ladoos can be made from fresh coconut, frozen coconut, or even dried coconut. You can use brown sugar or condensed milk to sweeten the balls, your choice!
The main ingredient is high-quality coconut.

Main Ingredients for Coconut Laddu:

2 cups grated coconut (fresh or finely dried)
¼ teaspoon cardamom powder
8 cashew nuts (chopped)
1 teaspoon ghee Ghee or any neutral
ghee 200 grams of condensed milk
1 cup milk (½ cup if using fresh coconut)

Coconut candies – Ladu. Step-by-step photo instructions

1. Pour 200 g of condensed milk into a saucepan.

2. Next, add 1½ cups of desiccated coconut. If the pieces are large, grind them in a blender.

3. Mix well. Check for sweetness. Add more condensed milk if necessary. Then we start cooking over low heat.

4. Cook, stirring constantly, until the entire mixture turns into a thick mass. The mass should remain slightly damp. Do not overcook, otherwise the ladoo will harden. Then turn off the stove and add cardamom powder and 2 tablespoons of chopped pistachios or any nuts. Leave to cool.

5. While the mixture is still warm, take small portions into your palm and roll between your palms to form balls.

6. Roll them in coconut for decoration. You can also skip this step, but it will add some flair.

Tips for making coconut ladoo

Coconut Selection: Fresh coconut works best for these balls. But you can also use frozen
or dried coconut. If you prefer frozen coconut, make sure it is raw, uncooked coconut.
If you use desiccated coconut, use small pieces rather than large pieces.
Sweetener: To sweeten the balls, you can use sugar, jaggery or condensed milk.
Coconut ladoo made with jaggery is the best and has a deep flavor.
It is advisable to first dissolve palm sugar to remove excess particles from it, and then use it.
Flavoring: Traditionally, cardamom is used to flavor coconut ladoo. However, in winter
we also use dried ginger powder and nutmeg.
Vegan Option: For a vegan version, simply replace the milk in the recipe with coconut milk.

Additional ingredients.
There are many additional ingredients you can add to coconut ladoos to give it a rich flavour.
Milk powder, cashew powder and sesame seeds are some of the ingredients I use.

Making coconut ladoos on the day of Ganesh Chaturthi is especially inspiring! And chanting mantras and reading stories related to Ganesha helps:
  • improve the quality of learning
  • helps with business matters
  • removes obstacles to your goals

Please your loved ones with delicious and healthy sweets and be truly happy)
