Recommendations before joining a lesson
General issues
It is recommended to connect to classes via a computer, because… on the phone, the picture will be too small and you will have difficulty seeing the instructor. Check your device settings in advance – you can log into the Zoom program at any time and test everything.
The Yoga-Hub club runs these classes without music, so if you want, you can add the music you want yourself – to do this, you will need to turn off the audio so that other participants are not distracted.
Health and injury safety
Although the yoga instructor is not a doctor, it is important to tell him/her the features of your body that you know about. For example, you have acute back pain, or you have high blood pressure, or you have some kind of chronic disease, etc., and so on. The fact is that yoga has many restrictions and contraindications – it is important to comply with them so as not to harm the body. Injuries in yoga are often cumulative, so you may not always be able to immediately recognize/feel that something is wrong.
General recommendations when practicing yoga is not recommended:
– body temperature above 37 (if you are sick or are already sick)
– for some reason, the pressure has increased
– in the last 12 months there has been surgery on the abdominal organs
– a brain tumor
– sharp pain in any of the body organs, joints
Yoga should improve health and make the body stronger. In order not to get the opposite result, you need to take your practice seriously and tell your yoga instructor details about your health status, as well as about the changes that are occurring. This is especially important during online classes or video-recorded classes, when the yoga instructor does not see you and cannot assess the situation and, if necessary, react quickly in case of undesirable consequences.
The Yoga Hub club invites its new practicing yogis to complete a questionnaire, which also includes questions about their health status. In this way, the yoga instructor gets to know new participants in his classes and, if necessary, adjusts the developed training program in advance. If you have not yet completed the questionnaire before your first lesson, please do so now:
Your yoga place
Choose a comfortable place to practice so that you can lie on your back and stretch your arms and legs up. Then check that you can put your hands to the side – nothing should interfere with you. Stand up to your full height, raise your arms, and spread them to the sides – nothing should interfere with you either.
Depending on your flexibility, stretch, pelvic and chest opening, in addition to the mat, you may need a rolled-up blanket/towel (so you can place it under your butt), a belt (or long, wide rope), and a towel to dry yourself off if necessary.
The room where you practice should have a comfortable room temperature (shouldn’t be cold or hot), the air conditioner shouldn’t blow directly on you, and it’s also advisable that no one at home distracts you during the workout.
If you have a pet, it is best to limit his/her access to you for the duration of the class. This is related to energy – during practice, you will accumulate energy, animals feel this and also want to “take” some for themselves, so you should retire.
You can join our online yoga classes by submitting a request on this page.
Yoga and water
It is not recommended to drink water 15 minutes before and after practice. We also do not recommend taking a shower immediately after class. This can be done 15-20 minutes after the end of practice.
Water tends to neutralize energy – including transformed energy after exercise, so it is better to give time for the energy to “assimilate”, and after that, you can drink water or take a shower.
Eating should be 2-4 hours before the start of class, depending on the speed of your metabolic processes. You need to practice on an empty stomach, as many yoga positions stimulate the internal organs of the abdominal cavity. If the food in your stomach has not yet been completely digested and you begin to practice, you will find it difficult and you will feel sluggish during practice.
Technical issues
Online classes are held on the Zoom platform in the Yoga-Hub virtual room.
When you first connect to Zoom, the program will prompt you to install their application (.exe file) – allow the installation of this application, after which you will automatically connect to the virtual room. We recommend installing the Zoom application on your computer or phone in advance – then you will have the opportunity to check all technical parameters before the lesson, and not during it. First of all, it is important to check the incoming sound settings so that you can accurately hear the yoga instructor during classes.
Zoom room always offers you the opportunity to choose whether to connect your video or not. For yoga classes, we recommend connecting a video so that the instructor has the opportunity to correct the asanas performed by the participants or place additional emphasis on certain nuances.
The Zoom room has several video windows in which you can see the instructor, other participants, and yourself. One of the video windows is the largest and is located in the middle of the screen. To always see a yoga instructor in a large video window, you need to select the pin video option in the upper right corner of his window (…). Then the windows will not switch, and you will not only hear clearly but also see the instructor performing the asanas.
