Who the Sacred Peak Calls and Why
Greetings, dear friends! In this article, I’ll share with you the mechanisms of sacred selection, tell you about the stages of initiation, and give practical advice for those who feel their destiny is connected to this mountain. Are you ready to find out if Kailash has chosen you?
Who Hears the Mountain’s Call?
“This is not a tourist route. Only those brought by destiny will make it there” — this is what they say about the mountain that decides for itself whom to let in. Thousands of articles have been written about Kailash, but everyone who has been there understands: words are powerless to convey the mechanism of this selection.
“Kailash calls again,”- share those who once heard this mysterious summons. –“When you say goodbye to her, you already miss her and want to walk this path again.” But what is this enigmatic selection process conducted by the sacred mountain? Whom does it choose and why?
Over long centuries of pilgrimages, an amazing pattern has emerged: those who reach Kailash are not those who want to, but those whom the mountain needs. Invisible laws operate here that modern science cannot yet explain.
Even photographs make you think differently. What can be said about those whom the mountain has truly called to itself?
This place gives each person their own gift: some receive enlightenment of mind, others healing of body, still others answers to sacred questions. But the main question remains: will you hear the call amid the bustle of everyday life?
Sacred Selection: How the Mountain Chooses

Travelers from around the world tell strikingly similar stories about how Kailash conducts its invisible selection. I have studied these patterns for years and can say with certainty that random people don’t make it to the Inner Kora. But it turns out, even the ordinary Outer Kora is far from accessible to all who wish.
The selection mechanism operates on different levels. Some suddenly encounter problems with documents — visas are delayed, certificates are lost, tickets are mysteriously canceled. Others develop unexpected health problems just before the trip. Still others face family circumstances that force them to postpone the journey. “They didn’t let me climb it. It’s somehow disappointing,” some are frustrated. But years later, they understand that they weren’t truly ready then.
Those whom the mountain has truly chosen tell of amazing coincidences: the right people appear at the right moment, documents are processed as if by magic, even the weather seems to adapt to their plans.
Through years of studying this topic, I’ve noticed: readiness is measured not by money or physical fitness. The mountain senses sincerity of intentions, purity of heart, and readiness for transformation. That’s why both simple workers and successful businessmen make it there — social status doesn’t matter.
The time factor is also important. Many note that they were called precisely when they were experiencing a turning point in life. As if the mountain knows when a person is maximally open to receiving its gifts.
Outer Kora: The First Stage of Being Chosen

The 53-kilometer Outer Kora — a sacred ritual circumambulation around the mountain clockwise, the most ancient spiritual practice of Tibet. Every step here becomes a prayer, every kilometer changes consciousness. This is not merely preparation for something more serious — this is already a full-fledged spiritual journey that radically transforms people.
Sacred awe overwhelms even experienced mountaineers at the sight of the four-sided pyramid rising 6,382 meters (though some sources claim 6,666 meters).
The classic Kora route passes through Dolma La pass at an altitude of 5,600 meters. This is in itself a serious test for body and spirit. Here, by the sacred lake, the first deep transformations occur. Each section of the Outer Kora has its own sacred meaning:
- Western face — purification from negative karma;
- Northern face — receiving energy and blessings;
- Eastern face — rebirth to new life;
- Southern face — integration of received experience.
Energetic power and insights of the human mind manifest already during the first circumambulation. People receive answers to questions that tormented them for years, experience spontaneous states of meditation, physical healing.
It’s important to understand: even one Outer Kora can give a person more spiritual experience than years of reading books and attending seminars. More details about what happens during these three days of transformation, I describe in the article “Three Days That Change Everything: Inside the Sacred Kora of Kailash”.
Inner Kora: For the Especially Chosen

For those whom Kailash chooses a second time, there exists the sacred path of the Inner Kora. Many travelers say that the Inner Kora can be undertaken after twelve outer ones, though in my opinion, all this is individual and depends on the degree of spiritual readiness.
The route to Nandi’s sarcophagus (Tibetan name Neten Yelakzhun) begins from Serlung monastery and leads through Serdung Chuksum pass at a dizzying altitude of 5,805 meters — almost 200 meters higher than the famous Dolma La!
Nandi’s sarcophagus is shrouded in amazing legends. Tibetans claim it is hollow inside and connected to Kailash by a fifty-meter underground tunnel.
There exists a striking legend: inside Nandi, the gene pool of humanity is stored. In 2011, one researcher managed to climb to the ridge and discovered strange sandstone structures there, clearly not of natural origin.
Near the Southern face of Kailash are located thirteen chortens of Drikung Kagyu with relics of lamas from Drikung Til monastery. Here, modern pilgrims continue the ancient tradition, repeating “Om Namah Shivaya,” connecting centuries of spiritual practice.
The next level of initiation is overnight stays by the sacred chortens. The highest mastery is considered Vajra Kora with circumambulation of Mount Chenresig.
But these are practices for those whom the mountain has chosen repeatedly and who have proven their readiness through years of service.
Why the Mountain Chooses: The Purpose of Selection

Kailash as a place of regulation of good and evil on the planet. And this is not just a beautiful metaphor. Four great religions revere this mountain precisely because they sense its special role in maintaining planetary balance.
Hindus see in Kailash the abode of Shiva — the deity responsible for destroying evil and renewing the world. Buddhists connect the mountain with Demchog — an enlightened being who transforms negativity into wisdom. Jains revere it as Ashtapad — the place of liberation from the cycle of rebirths. Bon practitioners call it Tise — the center of the universe, from which creative forces emanate.
The mountain doesn’t choose people randomly. Each chosen pilgrim becomes a conductor of special energy to their region, their country. Understanding comes with years to those who realized their mission only later.
Physiological changes also testify to special influence. Uncontrollable thirst when wanting to climb the mountain, temporal anomalies, spontaneous states of altered consciousness — all these are mechanisms for tuning human consciousness to new frequencies.
My experience shows: the mountain chooses those who can endure these transformations and correctly use the received gifts.
Becoming Chosen: Preparation for Selection

Friends, you cannot force the mountain to choose you, but you can prepare to be worthy of its choice. Preparation is not only physical exercises, but also spiritual transformation.
Medical preparation should begin 3-4 weeks in advance. Required tests: complete blood count and biochemistry, coagulogram, ECG, abdominal ultrasound. At altitude, chronic diseases are exacerbated — the body doesn’t forgive frivolity.
Physical preparation focuses on developing endurance: running, long walks, stair climbing, swimming. A trial trek of 20-25 km will help assess real capabilities.
Spiritual preparation is critically important. Regular pranayama practice will prepare for oxygen deficiency. Meditation will develop the ability to concentrate in extreme conditions.
From practice, I can say: dietary preparation has special significance. At least a month before, exclude alcohol, meat, fish, eggs. A vegetarian diet improves energetic sensitivity and prepares for sacred space.
Moral preparation includes working with motivation. Why do you want to go there? What are you ready to change in your life? The mountain senses sincerity and cuts off tourist curiosity.
Practical matters: personal first aid kit, warm clothing for sharp temperature changes, psychological readiness for spiritual shock from encountering something immeasurably greater.
Will You Hear the Call?
My dear readers, I want you to understand that Kailash is a living system that has been choosing people for a special mission for millennia. This is not just a tourist destination — this is a calling, destiny, a path of transformation.

Outer Kora remains the main practice for most pilgrims. 53 kilometers in thin air at altitudes of 4,500-5,600 meters — this is already a serious test that radically changes worldview and life priorities. The mountain gives each person what they are ready to receive at that moment.
Inner Kora, Vajra Kora, overnight stays by chortens — these are the next stages for those whom the mountain will call again. But the path begins precisely with respectful completion of the Outer Kora.
The mountain has an amazing property: it continues to work with a person even after their return. Seeds of transformation, sown at Kailash’s foothills, germinate over years, gradually changing all of life for the better.
If you’ve read to these lines — perhaps the call has already sounded in your heart. Perhaps your destiny is connected to this amazing mountain. Time will tell if you’ll hear the summons amid the noise of daily routine.
P.S. If this article resonated in your soul, if you felt the call of the sacred mountain, I invite you to join the spiritual journey to Kailash via the Outer Kora in August 2026, which Olya and I are organizing. This is the first step of the great path. Perhaps it’s YOU whom the sacred mountain awaits.
